Why should I start a corporate blog as a company? Does it make sense? Our answer: A resounding YES!

Thereasons to start a blog are obvious - I will show you them below. After reading this article, you'll have no doubt about it.

There are 10 good reasons that will convince you of the benefits of a blog for your business. You'll be itching to start your own blog today.

The start of our blogging career and its impact on visitor numbers

in 2014, we had a blog programmed on our company website ithelps.at. I had the idea after reading the book "Blog Boosting" by Michael Firnkes.

To be honest, we had no idea what to do with it. But it sounded good to have a new menu item "Blog".

The resulting development in visitor numbers:

Back then, we had 406 visitors per month to our website. Today, in February 2018, there are around 30,000 visitors per month.

"The number of visitors increased with every blog post"

And that's because we decided to get into content marketing with a blog almost four years ago.

Even though we had no idea how to start a blog back then - and why - today we know exactly what the reasons are for starting a blog.

Here are our top 10 reasons to start a blog for your business.

Reason #1 for blogging

Search engine optimisation - your visibility on the internet goes up and up

Blogging is an efficient way to increase your presence in the search results of Google and co. How do you do it?

By regularly publishing your expertise on each of your business topics and sub-topics:

  • Publishing your expertise in the form of information on a regular basis.
  • Providing answers to your visitors' questions.
  • Helping to solve your readers' problems.
  • Writing and publishing blog posts with added value.
  • Optimise the texts for the respective keywords.

With every article you write and publish, you are signalling to Google that you exist. The more you blog and the better your texts are, the higher you will be ranked.

The numbers from ithelps

in 2014, we were found with 40 different search term combinations in Google.

in 2018, we were found with 747 keyword combinations in Google.

We owe this to our blog. With every blog post we publish on our website, we increase our chances of being found by searchers. Search engines love fresh content.

If someone deals with the topic of search engine optimisation or websites in Austria, the searcher will come across us again and again. Here are a few examples http://www.google.at:

"best SEO agency"

"Website imprint template"

Search engine optimisation lawyers

All Google ranking factors

and much more.

82 % of our website visitors come via Google search. Completely and automatically. Regardless of whether we are currently active or not:

For this reason alone, it pays to be at the forefront of search engines. And what is the best way to achieve this? With a blog.

Reason #2 for a blog

Go social - blog posts are ideal for social media activities

Successful bloggers are also very active on social media. And there's a reason for that.

A good blog post has between 500 and 10,000 words. And it has a lot of added value for the reader. They either gain new insights or can then take advantage of the newly acquired knowledge.

I always give the following example in our blog training sessions:

"If you were to read a blog article today and you earned €10,000 the next day thanks to this blog article, would you have a positive attachment to this blog or the company responsible for it? Of course."

If you manage to write incredibly good articles, they will also work on social media channels. You can then publish useful information on Facebook, Twitter, etc. with minimal effort.

This will generate reactions:

Bloggers who are active on social media increase the number of visitors to their website

There is a good chance that others will share your content - this will attract new readers and potential customers.

And much more: you build up a loyal community.

Reason #3 for blogging

Building a community - you gain true company fans

Many internet and social media gurus claim the following:

"All you need is a thousand true fans of your business and your business will explode. "

But what is a true fan anyway? True fans of your blog like and share your blog posts - and they write valuable comments. They love your products. Recommend you and your company to others. You can't put a price on them. True fans do marketingfor you.

We publish a blog article every week. For 3 years. Not every one of them has gone through the roof. But many have. Because week after week we really endeavour to help our readers. They thank us with their loyalty and recommend us and our blog to their contacts.

Reason #4 for blogging

You are perceived as an expert

You're probably an expert in your field. Are you right? Then let people know.

A blog is the perfect medium toestablish yourself on the Internet as a specialist and expert inyour field.

Who are the experts in your industry? Which people or companies keep popping up? In newspapers, on the radio, on Facebook, on YouTube, etc. The bloggers.

BLOGGERS ARE THE EXPERTS OF THE INTERNET AGE

Those who make their expertise and solutions available free of charge - but also for a fee - on their company blog.

If you or your companyregularly writeabout a topic, it's only a matter of time before you are recognised as an expert.

Let me give you an example. I know very little about bitcoins.

But if I were to start blogging about the topic once a week, I would automatically build up expertise. I have to deal with the topic in depth, do research, read other blogs and books about it, talk to other people about it, etc.

The more I research a topic, the more I will know about it. The longer I blog about it, the more I will be considered an expert.

Or to put it another way. Authors of blogs will always be successful and gain a certain standing. It's just a question of time. If this is not the case, then they have done something wrong. Many give up too early, for example.

Nobody can tell me that the author of a blog who writes on a topic for 10 years and publishes one blog post a week is not an expert. That's not possible.

That would be 480 articles, by the way. If each of these articles had 1,000 words, that would be an estimated 8 books that you would have written.

Tip: Take a look at the blogs of other bloggers on your topic. Especially those that rank well on Google. These are the experts. You'll find the best information there. Use them as inspiration.

Reason #5 for a blog

Even the little ones have a chance when it comes to blogging

In the offline world, the big players clearly call the shots. They are also present online. But that's the beauty of blogging: If you're good, all options are open to you.

As a blogger, you have the chance tooutdo thebig players with informative and helpful content on your blog

We also started very small. Today, our visitor numbers are quite impressive. And I maintain that our success has to do with the fact that we regularly deliver high-quality blog posts.

Reason #6 for blogging

Your company gets personality

People much prefer to buy from someone they know. Someone they trust. You can be that someone with your blog.

Bloggers who offer helpful information free of charge on their blogs have an advantageover pure sales pages. Through the comments it is possible to communicate with interested parties and provide answers to their questions. This enables relationships and builds trust.

At this stage, you are appealing to people on an emotional level. And, as studies have already shown, this is the level at which purchasing decisions are made. A clear point for a blog.

Reason #7 for blogging

Your readers are always up to date

Are you running a special promotion? Is there something new to report about your company or your industry?

Let your blog visitors take part. Let them take a look at your company via your blog and get involved. This strengthens the bond immensely.

If you show your community that they are something special, they willreturnthe favour a hundredfold. In the form of purchases, orders and recommendations.

Reason #8 for blogging

New paths and collaborations will arise from this

Your visibility on the internet will give you opportunities and possibilities that you weren't even aware of before. As a university dropout, I could never have imagined being invited to be a guest lecturer at a university of applied sciences. But I was invited. And it was brilliant.

Collaborations, friendships and customers have come about through the activities on our blog. For example, we filmed a few interviews for YouTube and our blog some time ago. Including with copywriters and bloggers from a wide range of industries.

A mastermind group has developed from this. In this group, online entrepreneurs try to support each other. We've been doing this for over a year now. This would never have happened without our blog.

Bloggers network, recommend each other and give each other a helping hand.

Whether you network with other bloggers or maintain good contact with your blog readers - long-term relationships and collaborations are created that help you achieve your business goals and earn money.

Reason #9 for blogging

You are one step ahead of your competitors (who don't blog)

Blogging educates. Not just reading the blog. By regularly writing blog articles, you deepen your knowledge enormously. You automatically educate yourself further. Because if you write really good and comprehensive blog posts, you can't just scratch the surface.

That's what makes the difference. You start to consume other blogs on your topic, read books about it and much more. You are simply even more active to close any gaps in your knowledge.

This naturally gives you an advantage over your competitors. In terms of content knowledge, but also in terms of your company's visibility.

Reason #10 for blogging

Slow rise, eternal visibility

As mentioned earlier, we started building our visibility with blogging and search engine optimisation in 2014. in 2016 and 2017, it started to become really profitable. in 2018, we have around 30,000 website visitors per month. And I'm convinced we're still at the beginning.

Because one thing is clear. Blogging takes patience and perseverance. A blog is not for the impatient. If you want to see quick results, you have to resort to other forms of marketing.

In my view, there are always the same two reasons why corporate blogs fail:

  1. You don't give it enough time or attention
  2. You don't bring in an expert to coach you

I recommend that you use an external coach on the subject of blogging. Otherwise you'll end up like a company I coached some time ago. The company had been running a blog since 2010 and was still barely able to achieve any success with it years later. There were fundamental mistakes that had been made.

  • It was not written regularly
  • There was no clearly defined target group
  • The texts were not optimised for search engines
  • There was no keyword focus
  • No research
  • No answers and solutions for readers

And these were just some of the reasons for the lack of success.

Learning time that could have been avoided.

You don't have to wait that many years for your blog to work. But it won't be a huge success in just a few months. I wish you could, but experience shows otherwise. I think you have to reckon with 12 - 24 months.

But once the blog has picked up speed, it is unstoppable in a positive sense. The visibility of a good blog stays with youfor a very long time. If my team and I were to emigrate tomorrow and leave everything behind, the same number of comments, enquiries and customer orders would find their way to us for months or even years.

PS: I almost forgot one of the most important reasons, if not the most important:

You will make good money from your blog.

Whether you do affiliate marketing or offer your own products and services - it doesn't matter how you want to make money with your blog. If you're successful as a blogger, you'll feel it in the till. You will increase yoursales and earn good money. It's worth starting a blog for that alone.

Of course, you'll need plenty of blog ideas and lots of traffic to your blog. With these 23 surefire tips for more visitors to your blog, you'll succeed effortlessly.

Especially if you write great blog articles.

Give it some thought. Maybe I could convince you of the advantages of a blog and you will soon start your own blog.
